I’m so glad we found each other! I have been struggling with my changing body weight, size, shape since I entered perimenopause last year. Suddenly (or so it seemed) my body has become unrecognizable to me ~ all my nice clothes no longer fit. I tearfully and reluctantly purchased some new things in a size larger, feeling like that was the end of the world somehow. I’m looking forward to embracing a new me, along with all the other women here, and learning some important lessons about life and self-love. I’m sending a warm, sisterly hug to every woman here. Sarah, I’m happily tweeting the LMWL message every chance I get!
Hey Kimberly! Our body changes throughout our entire lives and that can feel scary and foreign, but it is also natural and beautiful.Buying clothes in a larger size may seem like the end of the world, but I am sure deep down you know that size is arbitrary and not important–what is important is making sure your clothes make you feel good about yourself. When an outfit makes you feel beautiful, who cares what size it is in?
I’d love to hear about what you plan on doing for fun this week. What brings you joy?
Body acceptance is non existent in my life. I am not happy with my body for many reasons. I have lost 20 lbs in the past 4 months and still not happy. I was an athlete, I loved sports. I lost all of that after my first baby (2009). Now after baby#2 , weight wise things aren’t much better. Nearly diabetic, I’m sad I let myself get this far away. Nothing is fun. Everything is an assigned task. I don’t have many friends. I just sometimes feel lonely despite my kids and husband. I have something great things in my life but miss because I feel discouraged about my body. I let myself write this openly and as I reread this I know I can find inspiration. I need to find it. Sorry this wasn’t very positive. At least I know what I want to improve on.
You’re right, Michelle – figuring out and accepting what we need or want to change is the first step! How could you make this concrete? That is, what one small, specific action might you take to move toward having fun or making a new friend? Thank you for sharing openly, and I hope that you’re able to see that many women here share in your struggle. I can’t wait to hear what you decide and what you’re going to do for fun today! xx
Hi Michelle, first thing is first. Stop waiting on the weight. What do you feel like you are missing out on in your life right now because of your body? Once you’ve nailed that down, I want you to do one of those things right away. You’ll quickly realize that you don’t need to wait on the weight to enjoy your life now.
I have always been aware of being overweight, I am 49 now. In 6th grade, It was health week, that really made me think that I was fat. I weighed 128. Size of clothes really made a difference to me as a 12 was HUGE in high school. And yet there I was. I have not seen a 12 sincethen. I have had 2 children and have just now lost the baby weight that I gained with the first one, LOL. I was made fun of, even while pregnant. The word beautiful was one never used to describe me until I met my husband. After 24 years, I still don’t “see” the beauty, just the fat. He is steadfast and determined, and I am slowly changing my thought process. Yes, I can be beautiful, even in jeans and a t-shirt, my uniform of choice….no options, to keep myself hidden from view, it’s not right to be noticed. Yes, we want to work on that as well. Not sure why?
The fun thing I have done was also a bit stressful. As part of the LMWL challange, day one, I bought RED LIPSTICK!!! I am not much of a lippy wearer as I chew my lips and most just feel yucky. But…I bought RED LIPSTICK!!! I will be wearing it to bible study tonight. Wondering what it will be like as I am not one who wants to be noticed.
We do eat at the table some nights, but I will make more of an effort to go slowly and mindfully. I will let you know how things go, maybe. Not one to promot myself, either. Can you tell I’m an introvert? ^_^
Hi Wendy! First of all, yes, you *are* beautiful(!) …Also, I am an introvert, too (; but seriously, I can totally relate to the not wanting to stand out. Way to put yourself out there with the red lipstick; let us know how it went! (We’re here for you, and your input and comments matter) xx
Wendy, tell me more about your lipstick experience. And the next time you go to your go-to outfit of a t-shirt and jeans, I want you to try accessorizing a little. Maybe wear a patterned scarf or add a long necklace and some bracelets.
I love all these ideas for fun. Today I had coffee and breakfast with some girlfriends, played tennis with my new rescue dog, took a bubble bath and let my daughter paint my nails. Oh and wore red lipstick for the LMWL Challenge of course! There are so many ways to squeeze in a bit of fun here and there! Cheering you all on ladies!
Dang girl! (; Thanks for sharing and inspiring new ideas… I think I’m going to have to set up a mani with my niece ^_^
Amanda, you seriously had the best day ever it sounds like! Way to live more.
FUN FIRST: I am going to do a yoga class tonight and work on my garden!
Assessing my weight issues happened at a young age, a delicate age where elders should appropriately address the situation…not stamping me with ” the fat kid approval” stamp. I struggle with this stamp to this day. I was maybe 8 or so when the doctor did blood work to see if I was diabetic….it was the only explanation. There was no underlying problem making me “fat”…. OH Nooo…kids don’t have feelings at eight!
After learning to live with my parents separation I also learned how to supplement food for feelings. The more I ate the the bigger I got and the worst I felt. This cycle was out of control and it could have been easily fixed but it just got worst. When I entered high school I was so unhappy and insecure I remedied my insecurities with big binges followed by a nice shower aka purging. I started to lose weight, I started to feel good, boys started to notice me, I was unstoppable! This continued through out college ( Can’t gain the freshman 15…) until my family started to hint that they knew I was making unhealthy choices.
There is no happy ending to this weight story yet…I still struggle everyday with my self image, food, my body, my self esteem and my relationships. On the outside I preach healthy decisions…if you ask anyone that has known me for the past 10 years. I am the epitome of a health nut! BUT that is my shell (although it is who I strive to be). A seed was planted in my brain over 20 years ago, a bad seed that unfortunately has defined my life thus far. 20 years of a bad habit is a HARD habit to break.
I try to take everyday at a time, take small steps to better myself and push the positive affirmations. Sarah, you help with my healing. Thank you.
Shawna, thank you for being so vulnerable and so open with your story. I’m so happy you are here, because this community is one of the most supportive and vulnerable that I’ve experienced and I truly believe each of us can relate to one another at one level or another and I want you to know that you are not alone and that I want nothing more than for you to break free from body jail. My next video is going to be really great for you so I hope you’ll pay extra close attention. I hear you, I see you and I’m holding your hand each step of the way.
I have always been critical of my body-not thin enough, not pretty enough-always comparing myself to others and coming up short. Tonight I am going to cook a lovely dinner for my husband-set the table with cloth napkins & flowers and even have a glass of wine.
How was your dinner Cait? This definitely falls into my definition of fun. I hope you enjoyed every minute of it.
Ugh, where to begin with body struggles??? I guess it would be a tie between wanting clothing to fit, feel and look different on me than they do and wishing I loved the way I look naked. So basically I feel awful whether I’m dressed or bare!
Today for fun I’m putting myself first and going to yoga. My errands will get done after some ME time.
Hi Alicia, you are going to really love what we talk about in our next video. I go into some pretty great topics around your body and I think it is going to resonate with you so much.
How was yoga? I bet you still finished all of your errands and probably didn’t feel as drained after them either.
I did a fun thing yesterday – lovely bike ride along the coast,Liverpool UK – and tomorrow I go to my yoga class. I am in my 50s and only just learning to love and accept my body after years of feeling abnormal. I’ll definitely be giving the eating without distraction a go at work and will let you know about the experience.
Hi Janet. I love all of the activity you have in your life. I always feel great after doing something I love. How did you feel afterwords? And, I definitely want to hear about your experience eating without distractions.
I can not remember a time that I have ever loved my body. The negative self talk has been ingrained in my mind. I have been on an emotional yo-yo forever. I am so tired and so ready to love who I am. I need this. The time is right and my time is now. My fun for today was a long walk in the woods. It is where I feel my most joy.
I am so excited about this program and look forward to the journey.
Hi Donna!!! I am so happy you are here!! You deserve to feel at home in your body and it is our birthright to feel the most love for ourselves. The time is NOW!! Stay in alignment with that feeling of excitement and feed on that by doing little things that you love for yourself everyday.
I’m so glad you’re here Donna and I cannot wait to see all that unfolds for you.
I loved your message about not letting emotions being tied to our weight. I feel like every day my morning mood is determined by what I ate the night/day before and I am so exhausted from this never ending cycle.
Today I am going to paint my own nails for fun! It is what I did all growing up and I loved it!
Hi Natalie!
I really like this idea. How did you feel aftewards?
Hi- I have struggled with my weight since I was about eight years old. I remember looking down at my thigh one day and thinking “oh my god I’m huge! My jeans are so tight, I can never were jeans again” and I didn’t until high school. I was always the fat kid in class and was teased by different people. That said, I had a lot of good friends and loved school and having fun. I was always outgoing, but in middle school and high school I forced myself to be shy so I didn’t expose myself. I think starting back then and continuing until today I have pretended to the outside world that the teasing and bullying didn’t hurt me. I didn’t want anyone to think I was weak, so I just shrugged it off. But the truth is it hurt deeply. I have always thought that I am just one step away from having it all. My thinking goes like this: I am strong, smart, beautiful (at least my face), pretty successful, and happy. So if I can just get thin then I’ll have it all. Being fat felt like a failure. But it’s been years of dieting, exercise and self-loathing. It’s been my deep secret for years: I hate my body. Intellectually, I can tell myself that I don’t and that I am grateful for it, but emotionally I hate it. I don’t want that anymore.
Five years ago, I lost 65 pounds. Then I got pregnant. I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to continue losing weight, but accepted that I would be able to after the baby came. Then my marriage fell apart and after a divorce I ate my feelings for three years. So, now, after a lot of soul searching and changing already, I’m back to my pre-big loss weight and ready to do something different. I do not want to go back to dieting and crazy exercise. I’ve been trying that for the last year and a half and have nothing to show for it. I want to start living and not obsessing about what I am going to eat, what I did eat, and guilt tripping myself for not exercising. I am starting to see a light that says this is who I am, who I was meant to be – that my body is great no matter what it looks like or weighs. I am tired of trying to be someone I’m not.
I ate lunch today without distraction – I went outside and sat in the sun. For fun tonight I plan on focusing on my daughter and playing ball outside for as long as she wants! I also did the LMWL challenge and wore red lipstick.
One question I have is about medical health. What if we’re happy and have found our “ideal” body for ourselves, but it goes against the medical terms for a healthy body? There is so many numbers out there that stress me out (bmi, waist circumference, pounds, blood pressure). How does this program address this?
Thank you so much! I am looking forward to the other videos and connecting to other women. I admit that this last part makes me nervous – I’ve avoided discussing this subject with other women because it made me feel like I was admitting to a failure. Wow – so much sharing already!! 🙂
Hi, Brittany! I hear you… You are absolutely among women who are or have been in your shoes. I can relate to hating my body, obsessing, feeling guilty, and “if only I were thinner…” thoughts, for sure. I think the rest of the videos are definitely going to resonate with you and give you some tools for truly (not just intellectually) loving yourself and your body.
I know there is research out there regarding “health at any size” and some alternatives to measuring health other than those factors which you listed. I’m sure that there are differing thoughts on this subject, and maybe someone else could speak to this more, but I would definitely do a little searching, and see what you find!
In response to your last paragraph… have you checked out the “Real Talk Videos” yet?! Please let me know if you have or do – they are an excellent picture of women getting vulnerable and sharing their struggles (and successes!)
Good on you for eating without distractions AND doing the lifestyle challenge! Yay! Did you play ball with your daughter; and, what else do you plan to do for fun this week?
xx
For fun today~I will try to sit on my back porch in the sun even tho it is 30* today~it’s one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
My relationship with my body~well that isn’t good. I think a week ago I told my body I hate it and hit my flabby tummy. I am so unhappy with my body, my knees and back are achy. I don’t like to look at myself in the mirror naked at all. I did a lot of work on myself during and after my divorce and got to a weight I was happy with and was happy then my beau said something to me that crushed me and I started to hate my job and now 40 pounds later I have a new great job and have worked thru so much of that stuff and the beau constantly tells me how pretty he thinks I am but I am really unhappy with the way I look.
Hi Jess, finding the job you love is going to be key for you. I think this shift is going to start bringing some happiness back in your life and if your beau is telling you that you are beautiful he means it. So often others see things in us that we don’t see in ourselves. Thank him for his compliments and you’ll start seeing how true they are. You’ll also feel a lot better about your self. In my next video I dive into relationships and our bodies and I think it is going to be really on point for you and you’re going to gain a lot of insight and tools to help you. Stay tuned. xo
Your LMWL philosophy really resonates with me!
I think my #1 challenge with my body is being truly ok with my size. As much as I love my Dad, he was very negative toward overweight people during his life and so I felt/feel undeserving, like I should sit on the sidelines and feel shame. I realized that shame was his main “tool” to try to get someone to change, wow.
My wife and I moved to a phenomenal neighborhood about a year and a half ago and haven’t had this much fun, ever. I’m a lot more social, connected and outgoing than I’ve ever been and I’m so grateful. I don’t often just sit and relax with my dogs during the day. In the evening yes, but I’m usually trying to keep busy doing something if I’m not at work. So that will be my fun “guilty pleasure.”
Thank you for creating LMWL, it’s brilliant on so many levels! 🙂
Thank you Jenn! I’m so glad that you and your wife found a neighborhood that fills you up. It’s always great to love where you live and I’m so glad you’re resonating with this philosophy.
1) My current relationship with my body, is just that I’m not happy with it. As a kid and throughout HS I was very active with gymnastics, horseback riding, and dance, but ever since college the weight has crept on. I am at an all time high now as far as weight goes and I’m ready to make some changes. I remember being so happy and proud of what my body could do – I could do anything my brothers could do – and I want to get that back. I want to lose weight, but I don’t want to suffer doing it, and I want to love my body and be confident no matter what my size.
2) For fun today I am going to walk my dog, and then read a good book. And do some yoga.
Hi Juli, I love what you have planned and if you start doing the activities that bring you joy, you’re going to start getting back to where you were, but I want you to realize that there is no right or wrong and you don’t have to get back to being exactly as you were when you were in high school, but rather at a place that makes you happy and leaves you fulfilled. xo
I have struggled with body image since I was in the fifth grade. I always felt too big. Looking back at pictures, I see a pretty, not too big girl, with a nice smile. I spent my college years stuffing myself with food and then joining weight watchers and being skinny. I still criticized my body and still felt I was not enough. And then into my twenties, I married an alcoholic and was divorced in my mid thirties. There were many weight gains and losses during this time. And no matter what weight I was, I still felt fat. I spent a few years single again and dated a lot and spent time pursuing interests that I always enjoyed, like rock climbing and yoga. I slowly began to feel worthy of happiness and that I was fine on my own. Then along came my now husband. We are married and have a beautiful son and I am 48. But I still spend too much time criticizing myself and not having fun. I fall into controlling my food and then not having any control over what I eat. Now, in my late 40’s, I realize that most people don’t care whether I have a perfect body, so why should I? I want to be present in my son and husband’s life and have a fun with them.
What am I going to do to have fun today? Laugh at the jokes my son makes. Seeing his face light up when I laugh, makes me happy.
Hi Barb, I love that you recognized that even when you were skinny you weren’t happy, but when you’re engaging in activities that make you feel alive and happy your perception of yoursel shifts. This is very important to note. The more fun and full of life we make our lives, the better we feel about ourselves and we naturally start to lose weight.
I am someone who has been big all my life. I started my first diet when I was 8 and have been on the dieting roller coaster ever since. I was successful when I graduated from high school in losing 40 lbs, but have since gained it back and plus some. I let life get in the way. I used the excuse of the hours of my job, deter me from preparing meals and working out. I moved to a place where I knew no one and (being incredibly shy) I hid in my apartment because of the fear of not being able to make new friends. Now I’m getting ready to move back home, to be near people I love and I’m ready to be happy. I’m tired of being cooped up in my apartment. I want to enjoy who I am and feel centered in my body and my life.
Tonight, I’m going to go get myself a pair of boots and jeans that I have been wanting, rather than waiting until I’m smaller.
Yes! Alex, I want you to let us know how those boots and jeans make you feel when you wear them. I bet you are going to feel amazing.
My relationship with my body is not at its best at the moment. Right now, I’m around 20 pounds overweight. Although much better than 8 years ago, when I was 60 pounds overweight, my body and I are not exactly on the friendliest of terms…yet. I’m a work in progress. For fun today, I plan to dance with my husband tonight in our living room. I’ll probably have to bribe him with the promise of a message later on, but that might be fun too 🙂 Looking forward to participating in this challenge!
I love this Joanne. I agree the massage can also be fun too.
Hi Sarah,
I recently went through each body part and wrote down what I loved about it what it wanted in order to feel loved and supported. It was a wonderful eye opener and the most surprising thing was not one single body part wanted food(other than food that nourished me). The consensus of my body was that it wants to move and not be punished through the movement (eg. Boot camp). It is a struggle to focus on movement and actions that love and support my body and not fall into the old habits of “must lose weight!”.
As for fun – I can honestly say that I have forgotten what fun feels like. My life has turned into one giant to do list and there is little room or thought given to fun.
Thanks for the space to share 🙂
Katt, I love the exercise you did with your body and I mean I LOVED it.
Think about all of the things that sound like fun and make a list so you will have some go-to activities so you can take a break from your to-do list for an activity each day. Let me know the impact it has on your to-do list. Chances are you are going to feel so much lighter and fulfilled that it’s going to be easier to move through that list.
When I was little my sister and I were referred to, by pretty much everyone in our small community as “the pretty one” and “the smart one”. As a result, my sister grew up thinking she wasn’t intelligent and I grew up thinking I wasn’t beautiful–as if the two traits couldn’t possibly exist in the same woman. I am better about my body than I used to be, but I still can’t seem to let go of the idea that I won’t be good enough until I lose 10 pounds. Then I feel guilty because I think, “It’s only 10 pounds, it shouldn’t be that hard.” I am strong, cook from scratch, write books, am raising feminist boys and generally think I’m pretty darn cool…until I look in the mirror and all my confidence falls apart. I want to love my body as much as I love the rest of my life. And I want to get there whiles still eating my baker boyfriend’s homemade bread and drinking wine with dinner!
2. For fun today I think I’ll go play at the park with my boys, red lipstick and all. It’s 85 degrees in sunny Florida!
Renia, I just had to say you sound pretty freaking cool to me (: (as does having a baker boyfriend…!) I hope you and your boys enjoyed the sunshine, today. xx
Awesome video! I loved it!
(1) Fearing that nobody will like, love, or accept me if I don’t look perfect.
(2) Go for a walk in the sunshine!
How was your walk Sue? And you do not have to look perfect for someon eto like, love or accept you. Our weight and looks do not define who we are.
I actually did LMWL a few years ago and not only did it help give me the tools to pull myself out of depression but it also encouraged me to pack up and move my life to a place I am more happy. However I still feel like I could use a tune up and have been having more negative body thoughts recently.
My main goal is to feel like I deserve to be in a romantic relationship and to feel like people could actually be attracted to me or aren’t lying when they say they are! I will eat without distraction today and for fun I’m going to go shopping! 🙂
Hi Rachel, I hope you bought something that makes you feel beautiful while you were shopping because you deserve it. Also, are you going to be joining us for LMWL this spring?
So for fun I decided I will bake cookies today after work because of this paradox of eating crap food while not allowing myself baking, while in fact very healthy cookies that I allowed myself will be much better for me.And it will demystify the whole food taboo.
Also I was eating my lunch while watching you, so I stopped when you said eat without distractions.
My current relationship to my body is a cycle of I am overweight like never before( I am 65 with arthritis) blah/ I deserve satisfaction blah. I
Hi Louise, you deserve to be happy and if you love baking, I hope that you will bake. There are so many delicious healthy alternative recipes and I find that if I make something that I’m really wanting, I can just eat 1 and give the rest away which is a win-win for me and for those getting the rest of the yummy treats 🙂
#1 – Accepting it as it is. I had my first daughter in Jan 2012. I ended up 10lbs below pregnancy weight when I got pregnant with #2 only 6 months later. After my son, I got 10 lbs below his pre-pregnancy weight (20 lbs below start weight). Now my third is four months old and the pregnancy weight is not coming off, and it is so discouraging.
#2 – For fun today I might make a painting, or bake some cupcakes with my kids tonight!
Hi Amy, My homework for you is to stop focusing on the number on the scale and think about how you feel in those moments cuddling with your little ones and when you are feeling discouraged, reach out for support.
Hoping this doesn’t post twice! I typed my comments previously – but when I hit submit it was gone! Trying this again….. So my relationship with my body has been nothing short of toxic. At the expense of my health, I have tried everything to lose weight (over the last 45 years) and have never reached what I had considered to be my “goal” weight. I have believed that if only I could attain that certain number on the scale, that I would somehow be “worthy” … At my heaviest I have a hard time even looking in the mirror, or even getting dressed… It’s a complete disgust of my body and its consuming. I can logically know that my personality and happiness are not tied into what I weigh, but somewhere deep in my core I know how I “feel” when I down a few pounds and how it changes me. I’m excited to finally have a tool that can help me break this cycle of self loathing, and shift my focus from the actual weight to something deeper. Today for fun I’m going to take a hot bubble bath, get cleaned up for the day(put on my red lipstick!) get dressed in something cute (instead of yoga pants, sweatshirt with no bra, and no makeup and hair not done) :). I will also check back and let you all know how meal time goes!
Hi Brandie! It posted below, but just in case it isn’t showing up for you, I just wanted to let you know that I can’t wait to hear about your day!
My #1 struggle with my body was that I never felt like myself after I gained 40 lbs my freshman year in college. The “pre” body was one I understood really well… and then the new one was so foreign. I then spent a lot of time trying to get “rid” of that new body instead of listening to it. Accepting that this IS my body has been difficult. For fun, I’m going to go for a walk in the woods and play my guitar!
As I mentioned to Natalie below, I shared in not feeling like myself after gaining weight. Realizing that it will be helpful to accept and listen to your body, as she is, is a great first step!
Your plan for fun sounds great – let us know how it went (:
My disconnection with my body started quite early. My front teeth grew in crooked, and we could never afford to fix them. My mom then told me my dreams of acting or dancing were over. That no one would hire a girl with crooked teeth. I started gaining weight in my 20s, and now I have 3 children and I feel so disconnected from my body. I’m also a yoga teacher but I struggle with ‘playing the part’ there as well. Now I’m a yoga instructor with crooked teeth and is 30-40 lbs overweight. I’m really struggling. I have deep faith in myself and my calling, but feel like my exterior doesn’t match up with my interior self.
Today I am feeling particularly discouraged but I will try to do something fun. I’m not sure yet what it will be- but I’m open to the call.
Hi Shannah (I love reading all of the beautiful names on here!),
Thanks for sharing your story and being vulnerable with the group. I think you might be surprised to find many yoga instructors or other fitness or health coaches with similar concerns. Good for you for remaining aligned with yourself and your calling. Please let us know what you decided to do for fun! We’re all here to support you (:
Shannah. Instead of focusing on your teeth, what is one part of your body that you love? I want you to focus on all of the things you love about yourself vs. the things you don’t.
Sarah,
I am so excited that I found out about your program via Facebook through an old “pen pal” friend, which is now going to cause us to reconnect and hold each other accountable with your challenges. I was just attempting to clean my messy apartment when I “distracted” myself and opened my laptop and saw your email and I am so glad that I did. I have been struggling with liking my body image for years now and I have tried anything and everything it seems to lose weight and it didn’t work, just as you said about you. I do need to learn to love me and my body and I am so excited to embark on this journey with all the amazing women that are participating as well. You have opened my eyes to what needs to be done and I am very humbled and going to do everything in my being to have the will power to do everything that you suggest.
Madison, that’s too cool about reconnecting with your old pen pal!
Did you decide what to do for fun today or tomorrow??
I am so happy to hear you reconnected. I love being able to pick back up with friends after some times has passed.
WOW…ok this really made me quite aware of a few things. I Have gained substantial weight over the past 10 years and that was right after I split with the man who, and still to this day feel, was the love of my life. I am not in a relationship and want to be, I thought I knew myself until I listened to this lol. I have joined a gym and it was for exercise but to get me out doing something as I often just go right home after work and be lazy.
For fun, I have been looking for ideas to decorate my condo, so tonight I will start putting ideas down and finding where I can actual get the items and create a plan.
I am really looking forward to being more open and honest with myself about how I’m feeling and start paying more attention to how I eat, when I eat and what my food tastes like!
Smile ladies I think we are all in for a roller coaster ride
Brenda, interior design is another passion of mine. Keep us posted on your progress.
My current struggle is feeling my body belongs to me…. I don’t feel I’m in my own skin.
I’m gonna play with my dog and walk him everyday come rain or shine… fresh air in my lungs and me time… away from the busy say to day goings on.
Natalie,
I struggled with this in the past after attaching myself and my identity so closely to my appearance…and then that appearance changing. I didn’t feel like myself. I hope these videos and the challenges in them are helpful in guiding you back to that place where you do feel like your body is yours, again.
Also, I walked my dog for part of my fun today, and you’re right, that fresh air (and SUN, for me!!) really did it! xx
My relationship with my body has been nothing short of toxic over the years. I have sacrificed my health for the hope of losing weight and being at my “goal” weight (which I have never reached) thinking when that happens that everything will magically be perfect. I know logically that isn’t realistic, but somewhere deep in my core I still believe it to be true. I struggle to look in the mirror or care what I’m wearing etc.. When im at my heaviest weight, and seem to gain confidence and take better care of my appearance when I am down a few pounds. I feel pretty much trapped and controlled emotionally by the number on the scale. This has been my lifestyle for 45 years, and I’m so ready to break free somehow from my self destructive relationship with my body. Today for fun, I’m going to pamper myself by taking a hot bubble bath, and taking extra time with getting cleaned up (put on my red lipstick!) and get dressed “cute” for the day. (Instead of frumping around in yoga pants, sweatshirt with no bra, and no makeup or hair done!) I’ll check back later today and let you all know how it goes!
Sarah will love this (: I can’t wait to hear about the difference this makes for you, Brandie! I can almost feel it from the beginning of your message compared to the end! I’m excited for you, love. P.S. Did you post a photo of your red lips?!
I can’t wait to hear about your day!
